Tip: How to clean fish pieces?

Firstly, rinse the fish 2 or 3 times under running water and next.

The secret ingredients for better cleaning and to remove bad smell in fish?

Remove the excess water in fish, add 1/4 spoon of turmeric powder and a spoon of salt slowly mix well for 2 minutes. Clean the fish at least 3 times under running water. Drain the water completely and set aside.

Ingredients for fish fry:
  • Fish – 6 pieces(fillet)
  • oil – 1/4 cup
For fish masala;
  • Ginger and garlic paste – 1 1/2 spoon
  • turmeric powder – 1/4 spoon
  • red chilli powder – 1 spoon
  • salt – 3/4 spoon

A Tip to clean fish pieces:

  1. Take catla( bengal carp or bocha) or any fish pieces.

  2. Add salt and turmeric coat well for all the pieces.

  3. Rinse throughly under running water.

  4. Turmeric helps to remove the bad smell in the fish.

How to prepare fish masala:

  1. Take a plate add 1 1/2 spoon of ginger and garlic paste.

  2. Add 1/4 spoon of turmeric, 1 spoon of red chilli powder and a spoon of salt.

  3. Taste and carefully add salt. Mix well our fish masala is ready.



How to marinate fish pieces:

  1. Take the cleaned fish pieces apply the masala on both sides.

  2. Similarly coat the masala to all the pieces.

  3. Close and rest it for 30 minutes for better taste or at least 10 minutes.

How to fry fish:

  1. Heat a pan over a medium flame add 1/4 cup of oil.

  2. When oil is heated then fry the marinated fish pieces in batches.

  3. Fry 2-3 fish pieces according to the space in the pan.

  4. Fry for 5 minutes and then flip on other side.

  5. Fry till it become little crisp. For more crisp can fry for 2 more minutes.

  6. Take into the serving plate

  7. Serve fish fry as appetizer or as a side dish with hot rice, dal or rasam.

Recipe Notes
  • Add salt and turmeric coat well for all the pieces.
