  • If you are preparing first time in a clay pot and your pot is new then.
  • Apply oil to the new pot or soak in rinsed rice water one day before using.
  • By directly placing new pot on the fire, our curry will burn and stick to the pot.
  • This is my personal experience in a new pot. I have done that mistake.
  • So my intention is to share a perfect recipe to you.
  • This steps are useful only for a new pot.
  • All these steps are not necessary for an old pot.

Ingredients
Ingredients for pot chicken:
  • chicken pieces – 250 g
  • ghee – 1 spoon
  • oil – 3 spoons
  • chopped onions – 2
  • slit green chilies – 2
  • ginger and garlic paste – 1 spoon
  • tomatoes – 2
  • salt – 1 spoon
  • chopped coriander leaves – 1/2 cup
Spice powders:
  • turmeric powder – 1/4 spoon
  • red chilli powder – 1 spoon
  • garam masala powder – 1/2 spoon
Instructions
Procedure for pot chicken:
  1. Heat a pot on medium flame add a spoon of ghee and 3 spoons of oil.

  2. Add 2 chopped onions and 2 slit green chillies.

  3. Stir and fry for a minute.

  4. Add a spoon of ginger and garlic paste.

  5. Fry till the raw smell disappears.

  6. Add 2 chopped tomatoes stir well.

  7. Close the lid and fry till the tomatoes turn mushy.

  8. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, garam masala powder.

  9. Stir well and fry for a minute two.

  10. Add cleaned and drained chicken pieces.

  11. Stir well and fry until the chicken absorbs masala.

  12. Close the lid and cook till chicken becomes soft.

  13. Add a handful of chopped coriander leaves stir well.

  14. If necessary add 1/4 glass of water and cook till the chicken becomes soft.

  15. Take into a bowl and serve with rice, roti or chapati.

Recipe Notes

If you are preparing first time in a clay pot and your pot is new then.
