Ingredients for semiya kesari
  • ghee – 1 spoon
  • cashew nuts – 1/4 cup
  • almonds – 16
  • raisins – 1/4 cup
  • semiya – 1 cup
  • water – 2 cups
  • lemon yellow colour – 3 pinches
  • sugar – 3/4 cup

Procedure for semiya kesari
Frying dry fruits and semiya
  1. Heat a pan add ghee, chopped cashew nuts, almonds and raisins.
  2. Fry until it turns golden and set aside.
  3. Add semiya to the same pan fry until it turns to golden and set aside.
Cooking semiya
  1. Pour water let it boil. Add fried semiya and lemon yellow food colour mix well.
  2. Close the lid and let it cook for a minute.
  3. Open the lid stir well add sugar.
  4. Mix well until the sugar dissolves completely.
  5. Cook till the semiya gets to semi dry consistency.
  6. Add fried almonds, cashew nuts and raisins mix well.
  7. Switch off the fire. Semiya kesari is ready to serve.
  8. Garnish with almonds, cashew nuts and raisins and serve.

Step by step procedure for semiya kesari:

Frying dry fruits and semiya:

Heat a pan  over medium flame add ghee.

Add chopped cashew nuts, almonds and raisins.

Fry until it turns golden and set aside.

Add semiya to the same pan.

Fry until it turns to golden and set aside.

Cooking semiya:

Pour  2 cups of water let it boil.

Add fried semiya mix well.

Add lemon yellow food colour mix well.

Close the lid and let it cook for a minute.

Open the lid stir well add sugar.
Mix well until the sugar dissolves completely.

Add fried almonds, cashew nuts and raisins mix well.

Cook till the semiya gets to semi dry consistency.

Switch off the fire. Semiya kesari is ready to serve.Garnish with almonds, cashew nuts and raisins and serve.
